BIO
My name is Emma Hasco and I am a graduate of the University of California, Davis with a BA in Design. I specialize in sustainable fashion and graphic design.
Ever since I was young I've struggled with sitting still...the practice of design is ideal for my active, creative expression. I grew up in a mid-century modern home and have been greatly influenced by my parents’ deep interest in architecture, art, furniture and historical artifacts. It gave me a solid grounding that led me to the Design Department at UC Davis. My education at Davis impacted the way I look at the world. The program requires engagement in multiple areas of design practice because design is increasingly multidisciplinary and collaborative. It prepared me to work with everyone in the room: those doing engineering, coding, manufacturing or using my designs. I developed in-depth skills in multiple areas, including: exhibition, fashion, information, interior architecture and product (lighting and furniture), textiles, visual communications (digital, environmental, and print) and sustainable design. Having empathy for the design process and an understanding of the world greater than myself has fueled my passion for design and the work I have done, and have yet to do.
